Meaning in love

Love is a big word. Love is a big topic. Love is a big emotion.
A lot of thinkers, philosophers have been pondering on. Each trying to find a definition.
To have a grasp of its essence.
Some tried to find meaning in love. Viktor Frankl in his book Mans search for meaning attempted to find meaning to life in love.
"Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of his personality"
Frankl stated that only through love one can really become fully aware of another human being. Even more, he sees also that which is potential in him, which is not yet actualized.

From a poetic sense, love seems as a guiding star. Something that is bigger than each of us. Something to surrender to and to let go. Thus to find freedom in surrender.
"And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course" - Khalil Gibran

The poet (Khalil) continues and argues to follow love. Following love though it might wound you.
"Even as love makes you ascend to the heights. Shall love also descend to your roots and shake them."

Both Frankl and Gibran seem to agree to surrender to something bigger than oneself. The first to find meaning. The latter as a compass.

What about you?
